Gujarat: BJP, Congress MLAs have demanded a separate OBC board
The demand was raised by BJP MLA Kishore Chauhan of Vejalpur during a discussion on the budget demand of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Members of the ruling BJP and opposition Congress on Monday demanded the creation of a separate section for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Some of them claimed that the state government does not spend money for the welfare of OBCs in proportion to their population.
The demand was raised by BJP MLA Kishore Chauhan of Vejalpur during a discussion on the budget demand of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Chauhan said that creating a separate department would bring various benefits to the OBC communities who have been deprived of it. Chauhan added that out of the total population of the state, 100 per cent are SCs, 1 per cent are STs and 56 per cent are OBCs, to which I belong.
