Farmers to stop 4 hours train across the country on February 18, all toll-free in Rajasthan from February 12
The country is witnessing a struggle from the streets to the Parliament over the agricultural laws. Despite Prime Minister Modi's assurance, the farmers are not ready to believe anything unless the law is withdrawn. The agitating farmers have now announced a stop rail agitation on February 18 after a chakkajam. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM), which has been leading the agitation on the Delhi border for the last 77 days, today announced a rail stop campaign.
The United Kisan Morcha said, "On February 18, from 12 noon to 4 pm, a nationwide rail stop campaign will be launched." The front further said that from February 12, all toll plazas in Rajasthan will be made free for farmers. Also, a candlelight march and a torch march will be organized for the youth and farmers on the anniversary of the Pulwama attack on February 14. Kisan Solidarity Show will be held on 16th February on the birth anniversary of Sir Chhotu Ram. The Kisan Morcha further said that the people of Haryana put pressure on the BJP and JJP leaders in the interest of the farmers or ask them to step down.
The PM in the Lok Sabha called the peasant movement sacred
Today, Prime Minister Modi in the Lok Sabha called the farmers' movement sacred and said that the agitators have desecrated the movement. The PM said that Parliament and the government have a lot of respect for farmers and all the three agricultural laws are not binding on anyone but this is an alternative system and there is no reason to oppose it.
Fierce peasant movement
Farmers' organizations have been camping on Delhi's Indus, Ghazipur and Tikri borders for about 77 days. These farmers are demanding that the central government repeal all three new agricultural laws. The farmers staged a tractor rally on January 26 to demand their release. Meanwhile, violence broke out in several places in Delhi. After which, the farmers' organizations staged a three-hour strike on February 6.
One more accused of the Red Fort incident was arrested
For the second day in a row, Delhi Police on Wednesday took action in a case of violence during a farmers' tractor parade on January 26. Police have arrested Iqbal Singh, an accused of the violence at Red Fort and other places. A reward of Rs 50,000 was placed on him.
One more farmer died on Tuesday in the peasant movement, 70 lives lost in 77 days
More than one farmer was killed on Tuesday morning in an earlier protest against the agricultural law. The cause of death has been stated to be a heart attack. The incident took place on the Indus border between Delhi and Haryana. The deceased was identified as Harinder, 50. He lived in Seva village of Panipat district. Earlier on Monday, an elderly jawan was killed in PGI Rohtak. He was brought to the hospital from Tikri Border on January 16 due to a cold. 70 people have died during the agitation due to various reasons. Some have committed suicide while others have died due to illness or cold.
